At LOKIA, we firmly believe there is no age limit for staying active, fulfilled and having fun. Caring for our seniors also means encouraging them to remain engaged, to break isolation, and to take full part in the life of their community.
It is with this vision that LOKIA had the privilege of being a partner of the Générations Actives Health Challenge, held this past May 29 in Quebec City. For the occasion, more than twenty residents and team members from our residences in the region came together to take part in this unifying day dedicated to healthy living and intergenerational exchange.
Organized by Générations Actives in collaboration with the AREQ, this large free gathering took place at the Pointe-aux-Lièvres site in Quebec City. Its goal: to bring together participants of all ages to move together in a friendly atmosphere, where enjoyment and well-being come before performance. Despite uncertain weather, the energy and enthusiasm of the participants made this day a true success.
The heart of the Challenge was a 1.8 km route running alongside the beautiful Saint-Charles River. Whether they chose to walk or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere, our residents experienced a day marked by new encounters, the joy of moving and the pleasure of being together.
The presence of many young people who came to take part in the event led to wonderful exchanges. On one side, our seniors shared their energy, their enthusiasm and their life experience; on the other, they were carried by the liveliness and spontaneity of the younger generations.
Throughout the day, participants were also able to enjoy:
"I was very excited and I convinced my friend Monique to come with me," shares Mrs. Dufour, a resident of Les Jardins d'Évangéline. She adds that the experience gave her a new momentum: she now wishes to move more to stay in shape, recalling that physical exercise is essential, especially at their age.
For LOKIA, this partnership represented much more than a simple presence at the event. Our teams and our residents experienced this day together, sharing moments of connection, encouragement and pride.
Residents and staff members from our four living environments in Quebec City were present:
Our involvement also took the form of an active presence on site through a LOKIA booth, where our teams were delighted to welcome participants throughout the day.
To support the walkers and runners, the chefs of our residences had prepared delicious energy balls, handed out free of charge to visitors. These nutritious and tasty snacks were especially appreciated, by children and seniors alike, and sparked many exchanges in a friendly atmosphere.
This presence on the ground perfectly reflects the values that drive us: closeness, kindness and the desire to contribute concretely to the well-being of individuals and the community.
Mr. Claude Paquet, a resident of Le Pavillon des Mille Fleurs, even offered a wonderful improvised accordion performance on site, spontaneously drawing young and old around him. A moment full of joy and authenticity that made this day even more memorable.
At LOKIA, we believe that aging well also means continuing to move, to build connections and to live enriching experiences. It is this conviction that led us to support the Générations Actives Health Challenge and to take an active part in this unifying day.
Staying active, maintaining social connections and living new experiences are all elements that enrich the well-being and quality of life of seniors. That is why we are proud to support initiatives that encourage movement, encounters and sharing between generations.
By taking part in events like this one, we reaffirm our commitment to offering dynamic living environments, where aging goes hand in hand with enjoyment, movement and human connection.
This day created precious memories, brought moments full of energy, and reminded us of a simple truth: there is no age limit for moving, having fun and fully enjoying life.
